Why FairWell exists

FairWell was built by people who watched separation cost far more, in money and in stress, than the actual disagreement justified. Most of what families pay for is organisation: gathering documents, learning what the rules are, working out what is normal. None of it needs a lawyer's hourly rate. The parts that do need a lawyer are short.

Our background is in operations: fixing processes that grew faster than the systems around them. Separation is that problem in a family, an ordinary, structured task made expensive by the absence of structure. FairWell is the structure.

What it is and isn't

FairWell is not a law firm and it will never pretend to be one. It prepares people and documents so that the lawyer's time is spent on judgement, not paperwork. Where a case genuinely needs a lawyer in the lead, family violence, hidden assets, cross-border custody, we say so and send people there.

How the business makes money

Flat fees for documents and guidance. Optional lawyer review through professionals who set their own fees. No hourly billing, no percentage of your settlement, no paid placement in the guides.

Who is behind it

A small team, an advisory group of family law professionals across Canada and the US who review the content, and the professionals listed in the directory, each verified against their association's registry.
