FairWell walks people through disclosure, property and debt, support and parenting before they contact anyone. What reaches you is a structured summary of their answers, not a two-line web form.
You pay a flat subscription for a listing, nothing else. You run your own conflict checks, you can decline anyone, and your advice is yours. FairWell is not a law firm, gives no legal advice and is not part of the retainer.
Before a Verified badge appears, we check your licence or membership number against your regulator's or association's public registry: a law society or state bar directory, a mediation association's member list, a financial planning board's lookup, or your provincial or state licensing body.

Find your profile and claim it, or start a new one. Add your bio, photo, fees, consultation details, work and contact links. It is free.
Give us your regulator or association and your licence or member number. We check it against that body's public registry and email you the result, usually within about 5 business days.
Your profile goes live with a Verified badge. Clients can message you through FairWell, and on paid plans the enquiry arrives with the client's organised summary when they consent to share it.
What we will not promise: a number of enquiries. How many you receive depends on your region, your practice area and how many people use FairWell there. We match on objective details only (region, practice area, language, availability) and FairWell does not recommend or endorse any professional.

Choose your category to see which registry we check. Plans are flat fees, priced by profession group, and never per lead or per referral.
Family lawyers. We check your licence number against your law society's lawyer directory in Canada or your state bar's attorney search in the US. You pay a flat subscription only. Clients often arrive looking for an agreement to be drafted or reviewed, or for independent legal advice on terms they have already worked through.
Mediators and arbitrators. We check your membership against your association's public list, for example OAFM, FDRIO, Family Mediation Canada, AFCC or APFM, or your court-connected roster where one exists. Clients who have both completed disclosure on FairWell are often ready to mediate.
Parenting coordinators. We check your membership against your association's public list, for example FDRIO or AFCC, and your underlying professional licence where you hold one. Parenting terms and the points of disagreement arrive set out in the client's summary.
Financial planners, CDFAs and valuators. We check your designation against the issuing body's public directory, for example the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, FP Canada or the CFP Board, or your provincial or state registration. Clients arrive with assets, debts and income already listed.
Therapists and counsellors. We check your registration against your provincial regulatory college or state licensing board. Listings describe your services in your own words; FairWell makes no clinical claims on your behalf.
Real estate agents. We check your licence against your provincial or state real estate regulator's public register. Clients often arrive with the family home listed as an open question: keep, sell or buy out.
Mortgage brokers and agents. We check your licence against your provincial regulator's register in Canada or NMLS Consumer Access in the US. Clients arrive with the mortgage balance and both incomes already in their summary.
Divorce and separation coaches. Coaching is not a regulated profession, so the badge names the training credential we checked against the issuing organisation's directory, and your profile says so plainly. If no credential can be checked, your profile is listed without the Verified badge.

FairWell never takes a share of a lawyer's, notary's or paralegal's fees. Your retainer is between you and your client. Other professionals can choose to take paid online bookings, which carry a small platform fee on each paid session.

We are just starting, so we are not promising a schedule or a number of sessions. Appraisers, business valuators, accountants, financial planners, real estate and mortgage professionals, coaches and counsellors all help people through a separation. The plans above apply to everyone. If your profession is not listed, tell us about it and we will say how we would verify you.
Listing fees are advertising fees, subject to your own profession's rules. FairWell introduces people only to professionals who have chosen to be listed, and takes no fee per introduction on any plan.
FairWell charges lawyers a flat subscription for advertising: a directory listing and the placement that comes with the plan. The fee is the same whether we forward you no enquiries or many. We never charge lawyers per lead, per enquiry or per referral, and we never take a share of your legal fees or of anything your client pays you.
Rules differ by jurisdiction, so please confirm with your own regulator before you subscribe. For reference, see the Law Society of Ontario Rules of Professional Conduct, Chapter 3 (rules 3.6-6 to 3.6-7 deal with referral fees and rewards to non-lawyers), and the American Bar Association's Model Rule 7.2, which allows lawyers to pay the reasonable costs of advertising. Some states regulate paid matching or referral services separately. Your own province's or state's rules are the ones that apply.

People use FairWell's free assessment, intake, disclosure checklists, calculators and guides to understand their separation before they contact anyone. By the time many of them message a professional, they have listed their assets and debts, worked out what is joint and what is separate, set out parenting terms they have proposed or agreed, and written down the questions they cannot answer.
On Professional and Partner plans, a client who messages you can tick a box to share a short summary with their message: where things stand, children, a rough asset range, whether the other partner is engaged, when they want to start and the help they want. On the free Listed plan you receive the message only. Not every client completes every step, so some summaries are fuller than others, and the hero example on this page is illustrative, not a real file.
We do not promise a number. It depends on your region, your practice area and how many people use FairWell there. What we do promise: every enquiry we forward is one a client chose to send, any summary attached is one they agreed to share, and you never pay per enquiry.
After you claim or subscribe, you give us your regulator or association and your licence or member number. We check it against that body's public registry: a law society's lawyer directory, a state bar lookup, a mediation association's member list such as OAFM, FDRIO, AFCC or APFM, a financial planning body's directory, or your provincial or state licensing register. If something does not match, we email you. Your profile goes live only once you are verified. If we cannot verify a paid member, we do not publish the profile and we refund the first payment.
Stripe takes you straight to a short welcome form, about three minutes: licence details for the registry check, where enquiries should go, and the profile details for your plan. We verify, set up your profile and email you the link. Profiles are usually live within about 5 business days of the form; timing depends on how quickly the registry check completes, so we cannot guarantee it.

Monthly plans: yes, any time. Cancel yourself in the Stripe billing portal (sign in with the email you paid with), or email hello@fairwell.ai. Your profile stays on its paid plan until the end of the month you have paid for, then drops to Listed. Yearly plans are paid upfront for 12 months at the price of ten; you can switch off renewal at any time and the plan runs to the end of the year.
Your public profile (name, firm, profession, location, languages and whatever your plan shows) is visible to anyone using the directory. Your licence number, enquiry email addresses and phone number are private. We use them only to verify you and deliver enquiries, and we never sell them. Client summaries are shared with you only when the client consents, and should be treated like any prospective client information. See our Privacy policy.
People in Canada and the United States who are separating, divorcing or thinking about it, who have used FairWell's tools and guides. Many are early in the process and want to understand their options before hiring someone. FairWell is not a law firm and gives no legal advice, so legal questions come to you. You run your own conflict check and you can decline anyone.
Plans are priced by what one new client is typically worth to each kind of practice. A new legal file is usually worth more to a law practice than a new client is to a solo therapist, so legal professionals pay more and therapists, coaches and support services pay less. Every group gets the same profile and features.

Yes. The same three plans apply to every profession, priced by profession group. Verification uses the registry for your profession, and where a profession has no regulator, such as coaching, the badge names the training credential we checked. Fees are advertising fees and are subject to your own profession's rules.
Any verified lawyer or mediator, on any plan including the free listing, can apply to fact-check a jurisdiction hub or guide. If accepted, you review the page within 30 days and send corrections or a sign-off. The page then credits your name, credential and the review date, with a link to your profile. Credits are given for completed reviews, not for payment, FairWell keeps editorial control, and acceptance is not guaranteed.
Yes. Use the update form. We confirm the request with the email on file and usually make the change within about 2 business days. Upgrading or downgrading your plan works through the Stripe billing portal or by email.
