How FairWell content is written, reviewed and kept current

Who writes it

Guides are drafted by the FairWell editorial team, working from primary sources: the Divorce Act, provincial and state statutes, the Federal Child Support Guidelines, the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, court self-help materials and published decisions. We do not write from other websites.

Who reviews it

Guides that state legal rules are reviewed by family law professionals listed in the FairWell directory before publication and at each scheduled review. Reviewer names are shown on guides where the reviewer has consented. Jurisdiction hub pages are checked against the official sources linked on each page.

How often it is reviewed

Every guide carries a "last reviewed" date. Guides that state fees, deadlines or statutory rules are reviewed at least annually and whenever we learn of a change. Wellbeing and process guides are reviewed every two years. If you find an error, email hello@fairwell.ai and we will correct it, usually within a week.

What we will not do

• Invent statistics, case studies or testimonials. Every number is sourced or clearly labelled as an estimate.
• Present legal information as legal advice. Every guide says what it is.
• Recommend a route because it is more profitable for us. The assessment tells people when they need a lawyer first, and it says so plainly on the homepage.
• Accept payment for placement in guides or the directory.

Jurisdiction

Family law is provincial in Canada and state-based in the US. Where a rule differs, we say which jurisdiction it applies to. Where we are unsure, we say that too, and link to the official source.

Testimonials

Testimonials on this site are from real FairWell users and professionals, published with consent, identified by initials and region unless the person has agreed to be named. We do not pay for reviews.

Corrections

Material corrections are noted at the foot of the affected page with the date.
